Before the doors open
Branding services in Dubai are usually bought late, weeks before the sign goes up. The opening date fixes everything else, so the identity is needed first and needed whole.
Logo design is often bought on its own, and it leaves the menu, the signage and the first posts to be guessed. A brand identity settles them in one go.
What a brand identity includes
Naming
A name that can be said, spelled and remembered, when the business needs one.
Logo design
The mark and the wordmark, drawn for your business.
Colour and type
A palette and typefaces that work on a business card and on a billboard.
Brand guidelines
The rules, written down and delivered with the files, so anyone can use the brand correctly.
Packaging and print
The pieces customers hold: boxes, bags, menus and cards.
A launch set
The first templates for social posts, signage and email.
For businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
The idea, the mark, the system
An identity is drawn from an idea, and the idea comes first. Where the business has no strategy yet, the project opens with one; where it has one, we draw from it.
A logo has to work at every size the business will use it. We draw the final mark as vector and check it as small as a browser tab and as large as a sign before it is approved.
Brand guidelines turn the mark into a system other people can follow. They set the logo's colourways and the space around it, the colour values for print and screen, the typefaces and how photography should look. A printer, a sign maker or a developer can each work from them directly.
Mock-ups show the identity in use before anything is made: on the sign, the bag, the phone screen and the uniform. We build them from the real logo files, so the decision is made on the identity as it will look.
Packaging design
Packaging design carries the identity off the screen and into the customer's hands. We design the box, the ribbon, the card and the certificate with the rest of the brand, then specify each one for production: the material, the finish and the colour values the printer works to.
A launch set turns the guidelines into the things your team uses on opening day. We design the templates your team fills in, for the first posts and stories, for email and for signage, so the layout stays the brand's when someone else writes the words.
By sector
An identity is tested in different places in each sector: the menu and the takeaway bag for a restaurant, the box and the shop window for a jeweller, the hoarding and the brochure for a developer. Each sector has its own page: restaurant branding, jewellery branding and real estate branding.

Questions
What does a branding agency do?
A branding agency decides what a business stands for and gives it a face: the name, the logo, the colours, the type and the rules that keep them consistent. Alternative Space, a design studio in Dubai Design District, also makes the website and the first content from the same idea, so customers meet one company on the sign and on the phone. The work starts with who the business is for, and ends with files and guidelines your team can use without us.
What does a brand identity include?
A brand identity is the system a business is recognised by: the mark and the wordmark, the colours, the typefaces, the look of its photography, and the guidelines that set the rules, delivered with the files. For a business about to open, it also covers the first things customers hold and see, such as packaging, signage, stationery and templates for the first posts. When there is no name yet, the name comes first.
Is a brand identity the same as a logo?
A logo is one piece of a brand identity. The logo is the mark people remember; the identity is the system around it, the colours, type, imagery and rules that make a menu, a sign and a post look as if one business made them. A logo bought on its own leaves every later piece to be guessed, and the guesses rarely agree. Our article on brand identity and logos shows the difference with an example.
What should we look for in a creative branding agency?
A creative branding agency should show work you would want for your own business. Look for cases made for businesses like yours, each saying what was delivered and which pictures are mock-ups or renders. Then ask how the fee is set, what is handed over at the end and who you will speak to while the work is made. At Alternative Space you speak to the team that does the work. Our guide on how to choose a branding agency lists the questions to ask before you sign.
Can you rebrand a company that is already trading?
Corporate branding for a company that is already trading starts with what customers already recognise. We look at the name, the mark, the colours and the signage the business uses today, keep what still works and redraw the rest, so the old and the new read as one company. New guidelines then replace the old ones, and every later piece is made from them, whichever team makes it.
How is the fee for a brand identity set?
Our fee for a brand identity follows what the identity has to cover: whether the business needs a name, how many pieces the launch needs, and whether packaging, signage or a website come with it. We quote after the first call, once we know those, and the fee is fixed in writing before any work starts. Anything added later is quoted before it starts, so nothing reaches the invoice without your yes.
How long does an identity take?
Brand identity work takes as long as its scope and its approvals. A mark with guidelines moves faster than a full launch with a name, packaging and signage, and every round of changes waits on your feedback. The proposal dates each step before you sign, from the idea to the handover. Bring your opening date to the first call and we will work back from it, so you know what fits before you commit.
