Web design agency in Dubai, from the brand to the build.

Website design that starts from the brand. Alternative Space plans the pages, writes the words, directs the imagery, lays the search groundwork and builds the site, so it reads as the same company as everything else.

The Bedaya Polyclinic website, by Alternative Space, a web design agency in Dubai

Before anyone visits

A web design company usually gets the call when the site has to be live before opening, or when the first one no longer says what the business has become.

Buyers judge the business by its site before they visit. A site made apart from the brand looks like a different company.

Website design and development

The plan

Which pages, in what order, and what each one is for.

Design for phone and desktop

Every page designed for both, from the brand's own rules.

The words

Copy written for the reader first and for search second.

Imagery

Photographed, filmed or generated, and we always say which.

Search groundwork

Titles, structure, schema and speed, built in rather than added later.

Web development

The build, tested on phones and desktops before launch.

For businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and across the UAE.

What the search groundwork includes

Search engine optimisation starts with the page plan. Each page gets its search phrase before it is designed, and the rest goes in as the site is built:

A keyword map

One search phrase per page, chosen from what your customers type, so no two pages compete.

Titles and descriptions

Written for every page and template, so each search result says what the page is.

Structured data

Schema that tells search engines who the business is, where it is and what each page offers.

Image text and links

Alt text on the images that carry meaning, and links between pages that name where they lead.

Speed on a phone

Every page checked for load time on a phone before launch.

Redirects and Search Console

When a site replaces an older one, each old address points to its new page; at launch the sitemap goes to Google Search Console.

A ranking is never promised here. The groundwork makes each page easy for search engines to read; where it ranks after that depends on the competition and on what you publish next.

E-commerce websites

An online store has to sell without anyone in the room. Ecommerce website design starts with the product pages: the photographs, the details a buyer checks before paying, and a checkout with as few steps as the business allows.

We then build the store: the options and sizes on each page, the cart and the checkout.

We design the store with the brand, so a piece looks the same on its product page as it does in the shop.

How a website project works

  1. 01

    The brief

    On the first call

What the site has to do, what exists already, and who will run it after launch.

  2. 02

    The plan and the proposal

    Before anything is designed

The pages and what each one is for, the scope and the fee, agreed in writing.

  3. 03

    Design, words and build

    As the proposal schedules it

Pages designed for phone and desktop with the rounds of changes the proposal sets, then written, built and tested on both.

  4. 04

    Launch and handover

    On launch day

The site live on your domain and the final files handed over, with three weeks of support.

Questions

What is the difference between website design and development?

Website design decides what the site says and how it looks and works: the pages, the words, the layout and the images. Web development turns that design into a working site: the code, the speed and the launch. Our team in Dubai Design District does both, so nothing is lost between the layout and the build, and the finished site reads like the rest of the brand.

How is a website's fee set?

A website's fee follows what goes into it: the pages and templates, who writes the words, where the imagery comes from, any shop, and whether the brand exists yet. We quote once the first call has shown us those, and the fee is agreed in writing before design begins. Extra pages or a second language, if they come up later, are quoted before they start.

Is it built from a template?

Templates are not where our sites start. Each one is designed from scratch for the business, from the brand's guidelines, and built in code by our team. That keeps the layout, the type and the motion the brand's own. Each page type is designed around what it carries: a product, an article, a practitioner.

What happens after launch?

After launch, our support runs for three weeks from handover: fixes and questions on what we delivered, while your team settles in and the first visitors arrive. Anything after those three weeks is scoped separately, whether that means new pages, a campaign landing page or regular updates.

Do you build e-commerce websites?

E-commerce websites are designed and built here like every other site, from the brand's rules and by one team. What the store needs, from the payment options to the catalogue, is set in the proposal.

Can you redesign our existing website?

Website redesign starts with what the current site already does: the pages people find, the questions they ask and the addresses search engines know. We keep what works, point each old address to its new page and rebuild the rest from the brand, so links and search results keep landing. Our article on website redesign goes through it step by step.

How long does a website take?

A website takes as long as its pages, its content and its approvals. A site whose words and images already exist moves faster than one where we write, photograph or generate everything, and a store adds products and payments to test. Each stage, the plan, the design, the build and the launch, has its date in the proposal. Name the launch date when we first speak, and the plan is built back from it.
